Climbing the ladder of His will: Fertile Soil

Fertile Soil

I was reading again in my devotional and found a really good thought by John Piper. In order to be ready for God's message on Sunday we should prepare our hearts Saturday night as well as Sunday morning. By praying and asking God to open our hearts to the Word, we can properly accept the message and apply it into our lives. We need to make a sermon more than just a Sunday thing, a life principal.

I totally agree. It makes Sunday a lot better when your heart is prepared the night before. It honors God when you take more time out for Him.

yes, preparing your heart for Sunday worship is very helpful. On Sat. evenings, my family has a prayer time, and sometimes someone from our church comes over to pray with us too. i love doing that!

Yes, I totally agree. It's so important to prepare for Sunday's sermon on Saturday...but not only that. It's important as well to take what you've learned on Sunday into the week. To be practicing what you've learned. Writing it down or getting a copy of the recorded sermon helps.

Exactly. That's what my dad does, he reads other sermons, and that helps him when he preaches.
